Jessica Montell is executive director of HaMoked - a Jerusalem-based human rights NGO that provides free legal aid to Palestinians living under occupation and conducts strategic litigation and advocacy against Israel's violations of international humanitarian and human rights law in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Montell has been a leading figure in the Israeli human rights community for two decades and has served as Executive Director of HaMoked since 2017. Prior to joining HaMoked, for thirteen years she headed B'Tselem: the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. In 2013, the UK-based Action on Armed Violence selected Montell as one of the 100 most influential people working to make the world a safer place. She has a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and a B.A. from Oberlin College. In recognition of her dedication to promoting human rights in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, the President of the French Republic named Montell an Officer of the National Order of Merit.
