Director
Irene Jasper serves as the Director of the Office of Student Loans and Personal Finance.
She joined Duke University in December 2001, and worked in the Bursar’s Office before joining the Office of Student Loans and Personal Finance. While most of her time is spent on process improvement, compliance oversight, and financial analysis, she still makes time to help students, alumni, and parents understand the loan process and assist with questions about loan repayment whenever possible, especially if it means helping folks save money long term as borrowers.
Her hobbies are diverse, but she especially enjoys outdoor activities, such as gardening/landscaping, bee-keeping, hiking, biking, and live music, as well as spending time at her mountain getaway in Whitetop Virginia, a gorgeous natural environment that has a rich history!
Irene's words of wisdom for managing personal finances in college is: "Develop good financial habits early and start saving now. No matter what your current financial situation, always put a little bit of money aside for the future!"
