When you buy or sell shares, you have to use a stockbroker. You can choose between a full-service stockbroker or a discount stockbroker. The full-service broker gives you advice on what stocks to buy or sell, and if you do lots of business with the broker, he or she may send you some of his or her research information, which would tell you about the stocks that the broker's stock analysts have investigated. Stockbrokers get paid by taking a commission on each trade they make. The commissions are usually higher if you use a full-service broker than if you use a discount broker.
