Medicaid is a program jointly funded by the federal government and state governments that provides assistance for health-care costs for certain poor and needy individuals, including children, the aged, the blind, and the disabled, as well as others who qualify to receive this assistance. It helps around 36,000,000 Americans. Medicaid is administered by the states, and each state sets its own guidelines regarding who qualifies for Medicaid and what services are provided.
